If you do choose to have us take care of packing all your items, we typically do that in a single day, just before moving day.
Our packers would bring all the necessary boxes and packing materials to ensure your items are well protected. The cost of these materials is built into the packing quote, so there won’t be any surprise fees for you. All of our pricing is completely transparent and told to you at the time of the quote.

Fun fact: when a box is packed properly, there should be absolutely zero “wiggling” of items within the box. You should be able to aggressively shake the box side to side as well as up and down and not feel any movement.
I have seen boxes accidentally dropped from 5 feet in the air and nothing inside was damaged because they were packed so well, with lots of protection within the box. This isn’t something I would recommend doing, but it is nice to know that even in the worst case scenario, your items will be safe if our packers have done the job for you.
Because packing is such a time consuming activity, a common challenge that we run into is people who underestimated how long it would take to do it. This can lead to a rushed job and not everything gets packed that should be (such as lamps and lamp shades). Or, there isn’t time to properly protect dishware and kitchen items. Lastly, the boxes aren’t labelled correctly on the sides and tops, which leads to more wasted time for you when you are going to unpack boxes, trying to see where the labels to the boxes are.

Great question, and the answer is – it depends. I know, super clear and exactly what you were hoping for. But, if you were hoping the answer would be “super cheap”, then I will disappoint you.
We are definitely not the cheapest packing services around, and we are not trying to be. But we will deliver the agreed upon services at the agreed upon timeline, for the agreed upon price.
The reality is that not every packing job is the same and so it’s impossible to give a set answer. However, like all of our moving or storage, or packing services, our pricing is a guaranteed quote that you will find out ahead of time.
At the time of your quote, Jon will come to your home and tell you the exact price of what the packing will cost.
If you’d like to look at various packing options, he can do that for you at this time as well.
For example, if you want to see what the price would be to pack your entire house, as well as the cost for just the kitchen and garage to be packed, he will create 2 separate quotes for you that clearly indicate what the price of each option will be.
Because he does the quotes in person, this is a very quick and easy way for you to find out the different pricing options in real time. To price out various things, it’s typically only 2-4 minutes to calculate, so feel free to ask him these questions if you are curious.

Bear in mind that all packing quotes include the necessary boxes and packing materials, so that needs to be factored into the price. If the packing quote is $1200, that is not just a labor price, but also factors in the physical materials needed.
Kitchen – by far the most labor intensive and delicate room in the house. This will generally take over half of the total packing time, and use the majority of the packing materials.
Garage – people often forget about how long a garage will take to pack into boxes, but it really does add up. For your moving day, you don’t want the movers to have to carry a lot of trips with awkward shaped items that aren’t in a box. This will slow down the whole moving process and increase the risk of accidents and damage caused from a long moving day.
A good rule of thumb is this : really long moving days = higher change of damages
