At Fraser Valley Movers, we are proud to offer storage locations in Langley and Abbotsford. We have moving services all over the Fraser Valley and can perform long distance moves to locations all over BC.

There are a variety of situations when people need both moving and storage services.

How Our Process Works

You call/text/email Jon, the owner of Fraser Valley Movers and Storage, and set up a time for an in person quote.

If you prefer virtual, or sending photos, that also is an option.

Jon will come to your home and give you an in person quote. At that time he will assess your needs, and accommodate what you are needing to get done in the timeframe you need.

He will give you an exact price for what the moving costs will be, as well as the monthly storage costs. Like all jobs we do, we give guaranteed pricing, so there is no surprises for you later on.

You book the movers and we arrange a date for the moving of items into storage.

The movers arrive on time on your moving day.

That’s right, we guarantee a 1 hour arrival window. If we say you movers will arrive between 8-9am, they will get there at that time.

If they are later than the arrival window and haven’t given you at least a 30 minute warning, we will reduce your moving costs by $200. That is how much we value your time and our communication with you.

We know it’s a tough time and incredibly stressful. It is widely accepted that it’s one of the top 3 most stressful experiences in life , ranked just after death of a loved one and divorce/separation.

Some surveys show it actually is the most stressful thing a person can go through  

So, in the midst of all of that, we want to be a solid rock you can depend on. We plan on doing exactly what we say we will and providing you a great moving and storage experience with zero unwanted surprises.

Is to create raving fans who are excited to have us help their friends and families with their local and long distance moves in the future. We know we’ve done our jobs well when we get referrals and really respect and appreciate the trust it takes for people to give those referrals.

On a philanthropic level, we are happy to partner with a charity called Food for the Hungry, and have for many years.

We donate a portion of our proceeds to them and are happy to be part of impacting others for good. 

Story Time

The original reason we got connected with FH was because Jon was feeling he wanted his business to do more than it was. The moving company was providing reliable employment to its staff, giving great service to our valued clients and providing a solid income to support Jon’s family, but it felt like something was missing. 

The desire to continue to improve the business wasn’t there, because it was in a good place and Jon and his family aren’t the kind of people that have a desire to get more physical things once we are comfortable. So, we were happy with having our needs met and having lots of down time. However, Jon got bored and realized there wasn’t a huge motivator for him with work.

That all changed when FH was introduced to Jon. At that point, he realized that this could be the greater purpose he was looking for. This could be the reason to continue enhancing the business. There are so many people without the amazing freedoms and opportunities we can often take for granted and Jon wanted his business to be a catalyst for opportunities for those that may not otherwise have those changes. This became the “why” of the business.

About Food for the Hungry

Food for the Hungry is a non-profit that seeks to empower communities to become self-sufficient on their own in a period of 10 years. The community we are connected with is in Guatemala and is a town of around 2000 people called Acul. Jon and his wife Laura have each been there multiple times and have been greatly encourage by the progress of the town as they make strides towards the goal of self-sufficiency.

We Try to Reduce Waste

When we have clients that need to dispose of something like old furniture, we see if there is any way we can donate it, so it doesn’t need to end up in the landfill.

Often we can find a thrift store suck as ICR, Buddy With a Thrift Store, or MCC Thrift Store or potentially through our contacts we can find someone who could use those items. 

We had a notable situation in 2024 where a client had items in our storage facility and they passed away. It was quite a lot of items (about 1 fully truckload of items, or 9000 lbs), and after the kids looked through everything and took a small fraction of it, they wanted us to get rid of the rest of it. By reaching out to people we know, we were able to find a family that had virtually no furniture and give all the items directly to them.

This was a great outcome as the thrift stores we connected with said they wouldn’t be able to sell the items because they weren’t in good enough shape.

Rubber bands to reduce waste

Most Canadian moving companies use tape to hold the blankets onto the furniture. We typically use elastic bands, which saves on the waste of tape. (we only discovered the elastic bands from US moving company connections telling us)

Tape can only be used 1 time and after it’s used, then it has to be thrown away. The tape also rips up the blankets, and when you remove the tape from the blankets, they eventually create big rips in the blankets, causing them to need to be thrown away. 

The elastic bands can be used for unlimited  times, and they don’t damage the blankets, so they extend the lifespan of the blankets as well. 

Using the bands allows for a huge savings of tape waste as well as blankets. It may not be a huge thing, but every little bit does add up. The typical move uses around 6-8 rolls of tape, so we can save hundreds of rolls of tape being used each month.

Reasons You Shouldn't Hire Us

You enjoy unknown price and arrival times

Most local moving companies give an estimate over the phone, so they haven’t seen the specific scope of the move before the moving day. Then, when they arrive to start your job, that is when the movers discover the actual size of the job.

At that point, they will (hopefully) be able to assess if they have enough manpower and if the truck they have is large enough to complete the job in a single trip. 

It is quite common for moving companies to schedule a crew for 2 moves in a day. That means that if you are not the first job of the day, the arrival time is unknown.

Those movers would come to do your job after their first one is complete (and remember, they don’t know how long that first job will take). 

The movers could show up many hours later than expected, or even the following day. We hear clients tell us of these types of experiences all the time.

If this situation sounds good to you, then you definitely don’t want to hire us!

If you have furniture you don’t mind getting dinged up or broken and the thought of scratches on your walls and floors is one that doesn’t bother you, then you don’t want Fraser Valley Movers and Storage for your move. 

We take every precaution to protect your current and future home as well as your furniture. 

You Don’t Mind Your Move Taking Forever

 Our experienced movers know exactly what they are doing and are really efficient. We are paid by the job, so we want to have your move go smoothly and carefully. We are not incentivized by going slow, unlike  companies that are charging by the hour. So, if you are ok with your move taking until midnight, then you probably want to stay away from hiring us as your local movers.

If the lowest price is the only factor

We are not the cheapest company, so if that’s what you want, we will disappoint you. We are not the cheapest company, and we aren’t trying to be.

If you really want the cheapest, look at Craigslist movers, or Facebook Marketplace. You can definitely find people that say unbelievably low rates.

Feel free to hire one of them and cross your fingers that they show up, and don’t cost you too much in repairing damaged items/walls/flooring.
