Downsizing can be a daunting task, especially when it comes to determining what to keep and what to discard. Whether you're moving to a smaller home, simplifying your lifestyle, or decluttering for a fresh start, the question of how much to get rid of is crucial.

Start by assessing your needs versus wants. Consider the functionality, sentimentality, and frequency of use for each item. Focus on essentials and items that hold significant sentimental value while being realistic about what you truly need. Keep the essentials that contribute positively to your life, such as practical furniture, cherished mementos, and items serving multiple purposes.

Embrace the minimalist approach. Simplify your possessions by evaluating duplicates, outdated items, and things that no longer serve a purpose in your life. Letting go of excess belongings not only declutters your space but also eases your mind.

Donate, sell, recycle, or discard responsibly. Items in good condition can find new homes through donations or sales, reducing waste and benefiting others.

Remember, downsizing isn't just about reducing physical possessions; it's also about creating space for a more fulfilling life. Embrace the process, take your time, and celebrate the newfound freedom that comes with letting go of the unnecessary.

In all my years being involved in moving, there has never been one person who told me "I wish I had gotten rid of more stuff".  However, MANY people have told me the opposite, and wished they had gotten rid of more.

If you're unsure if you should keep something, it's probably best not to.
